Account & Data Deletion

CRIS is a professional tool for children's residential care providers. Your CRIS account is issued to you by your employing care organisation, which is the data controller for the records held in the app. This page explains how to request deletion of your account and associated personal data, and what is deleted or kept.
How to request deletion
To request that your CRIS account and associated personal data be deleted, do one of the following:
- Email privacy@criscare.uk from your account email, with the subject "Account deletion request", including your full name and the home/organisation you belong to; or
- Contact your organisation's CRIS administrator, who can deactivate and remove your account.
We will verify the request and action it, working with your care organisation where required. Requests are normally completed within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your user account and login credentials.
- Your profile and account-level personal data (name, email, role).
- Authentication data (e.g. stored tokens, multi-factor settings) and device push tokens.
What is kept, and why
Some records cannot be deleted on individual request because they belong to your employing care organisation (the data controller) and are subject to legal and regulatory retention duties:
- Care and safeguarding records about children in care — including daily logs, incidents, medication (eMAR) records, significant events and similar — are retained by the care organisation for the periods required by law and children's social care regulations.
- These records are retained, anonymised or deleted according to the organisation's retention policy and applicable UK law, not by an individual user's request.
If you want records about a child, or records the organisation holds, to be reviewed or deleted, please contact the care organisation (the controller). You may also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
